It wasn't unusual that her husband was away for work, being a major quidditch star and all, but it was rough on Katie now that she was very pregnant. She was forced into maternity leave by her husband and brother-in-law, so now she was, more often than not, stuck at home with nothing to do. Of course, she read a few books, cleaned up around the house, and shopped for baby, but nothing was able to keep her attention day after day. Not only that, but Oliver made her promise that she wouldn't travel in her condition, which only made for longer days when her husband would be away for multiple days at a time.
One afternoon, knowing Oliver would be home the following morning, Katie went out shopping. She had finally decided on the perfect theme for the nursery and she wanted to do nothing but decorate. Some would call it a nesting instinct, while Katie just called it something to do on a day with nothing else better to do. After spending the entire day out shopping, Katie went home with all of her purchases and began bringing things into the house. Once everything had been brought into the nursery, the blonde female went into her and Oliver's room and laid down on the bed. She had a bit of an exhausting day, so she decided that she was going to take a nap.
Almost as soon as her eyes were closed, the sound of glass breaking startled the poor girl awake. Hearing more glass shatter and then the front door open, Katie began to panic. She wasn't sure what was going on and she needed to act quickly. Running into the closet that she shared with Oliver, she found the little trap door that looked like something had been in there from the last tenants. She didn't know what else to do, so she hid in there, put her hand over her mouth and just listened as whomever was in the apartment continued to smash and break things. The tears didn't start to fall until at least an hour after the apartment was quiet and Katie was sure that no one was left inside but her. The poor girl cried and cried and cried, not being able to stop. Katie cried until she heard the front door open again and that's when she tried to catch her breath as quickly as she possibly could and put her hand over her mouth so that no one would be able to hear her breathing heavily until she calmed down from crying a little bit.

As much as Oliver Andrew Wood adored and loved his Keeping position, he had a responsibility to Katie, and the baby that was yet to be born and join the Wood family in the flesh. Oliver had spent a lot of nights wide awake, wondering about the child, and other things. Of course how this would change Katie, and himself. And people like his big brother Cayden who had yet to settle down though maybe there was a blonde that had tamed him for a while. He might have had a rivalry with Marcus Flint, her cousin. But he did like Avalanche for his brother, they complimented each other quite well. He did remember Cayden mentioning that Avalanche wouldn't join them for breakfast one morning because she had a some sort of of cold. And Oliver teased his big brother about her being pregnant, unknowingly how right he was. So lost in thought as he decided to walk from the King's Cross, to the apartment which wasn't more than a few blocks away.
Of course he could have used magic to get to one point to another quite fast. He took his time, the weather was incredibly dismal, he had found the knick of time when it wasn't raining sheets. And he walked, he felt the soft illumination of the sun touch his cheeks as he walked. Still thinking about family, and the inner circle he had. It was all going so right, it was perfect. The romance, the wedding, the honeymoon, his career. Cayden owning up to be captain of Puddlemore, and him transferring. It wasn't a bad thing, but practice had sure been rough on him because he had always played quidditch with his big brother. Now it was his own time to spread his wings. And walking up a flight of stairs to the apartment. He noticed, immediately the door was open, the glass in the door was broken. And without thinking he dropped the duffle back, and walked in side the establishment. Two things on his mind, Katie and the Baby. "Katie??" he called, as he noticed the apartment was trashed, and he couldn't think of anyone off hand that would want to hurt them. A disgruntled fan, sure, a lady admire that was jealous of Katie? He called out for his wife again. "Katie?!" it was a little older this time.
Hearing nothing in responance as quick as Oliver was. He ran back to the nursery, and the bed room. He had heard sniffling and what it sounded like crying. As Oliver inched towards the door, he braced himself for anything he would see. "Katie," Oliver started as he kneeling down, to attempt to pull her out of the little spot she was in. "You're safe," he wrapped his arms around her pulling her softly towards his body. He could feel the tremors in her body. He kissed both of her cheeks, and than her lips. And than her forehead as he kept her close. "That's all I care about, everything else can be replaced," he said, bringing her eyes to his. His hand touched the baby bump, as he rubbed it back and forth like someone would a lamp for a genie. "How's my champ?" he said talking to her belly, trying to get Katie to smile at him. Something was wrong, what was it?

As the hours passed by while Katie cried, she lost all sense of what time it actually was. It wasn't until she heard her husband's voice calling out her name that she realized what time that it could have been and how long she had been hiding for. It hadn't felt like that long at all, but the girl blamed it on how frightened she was and the adrenaline that was still pumping through her veins. Slowly trying coming out of her hiding spot, Katie called out for her husband. "Oliver?" Before she knew it, Oliver was crouched down in front of her, helping her out of her tiny hiding spot. Feeling her husband kissing her, Katie's body still trembled, but started to calm down. Being in her husband's arms always seemed to have that effect on her; that was always how Katie knew that her husband was the one she was meant to spend the rest of her life with.
Feeling Oliver's hand on her belly, Katie put her hand onto her husband's and sniffled slightly. "He's ready to meet his daddy," Katie said. "I think my water broke a few hours ago," she spoke. "I've been too afraid to move, Oliver. I didn't know if they were going to come back. I didn't want them to hurt the baby," Katie said, breaking into tears again, burying her face into her husband's chest. Katie didn't know what was going to happen next, but she did know that she never wanted to leave her husband's side ever again. Not only that, but she sort of felt as if she had let him down if her water had broken, because she wasn't able to carry their son full term. Part of her felt terrible for not being able to keep herself calm enough to keep their baby safe and born at full term, but she just didn't know how to after having to experience something that she never had to worry about before.

Oliver Wood listened to his wife, intently at first. He pressed his lips together slightly, and he watched her. He continued to keep an arm wrapped around her. A hand on her stomach as she was talking. "Well than, we are off to St. Mungos," he breathed softly, trying to wrap around his own head. Of course they talked to the healers if the pregnancy was to be early, or whatever was to happen. They had talked about the scenarios, he of course had been more frightful than he ever let on. He might as well get a bludger to the back of his skull he would feel less. "Shh, Katherine," he had rarely ever used her first name, he had occasionally used it from time to time. It was after all a beautiful name. "Let's just go and see what they say," he said, of course he had all the owls letters written for the family that were ready at a moments notice when he would arrive back when she was exhausted. The bag of the belongings they would take for still by the door. He rubbed her back softly with his whole hand across her back several times.
He exhaled a small little breath, he of course had all the conversations with his own family. Of how excited and nervous he was for the baby to be born. That was something he wasn't sure he was ready to wrap his head around. Of course he knew men that would have gotten there wife pregnant and sort of been distant. He was at every appointment, he would go out of his way. It was something that he wanted to be apart. He had of course heard the stories from his mother, how his father was there for all three children. And that did comfort him, he was doing what was expected of him. Oliver would have lied to Katie to make sure everything was okay even when he himself wasn't to sure of what was going to happen. Oliver was in uncharted waters, there was something here he himself didn't understand. He hoped everything would be all right, and his son was to be fine. It was of course a worry about both of them.

Looking up to her husband, Katie knew that he was nervous and scared, but she knew that he was doing his best to hide it from her. She loved him every second for that, but Katie didn't want him to have to bottle up how he was feeling because of her. Bringing up her hand, Katie gently touched her husband's face with it, then looked up into his eyes. "Oli, it's okay to be scared. I'm just as scared as you are." And with that being said, Katie tore her hand from her husband's face and clutched her stomach and groaned in pain. With things around her, namely Oliver, bringing her back to reality and out of her panicked state of mind, her adrenaline and shock began to wore off and the pain of labor began to set in. In her heightened pain, Katie looked to her husband, "Oliver, this baby wants to come out now!" Gripping her husband's arm intensely, Katie screamed out in such pain once more. "He's not going to wait any longer, Oliver!"
Throwing her head back in pain, Katie's free hand grabbed for the floor and her fingers tensed up as they gripped the carpet almost as tight as her husband's arm. "Oliver, there's no time! He's coming now! You're going to have to deliver him and apparate us to the hospital after," Katie managed to blurt out before another painful scream followed. She had never felt such an intense pain in her life and she had been told by many of her older female relatives that child birth would be the most painful process that she would ever experience; these women were most certainly right. Hoping that Oliver would know what to do, Katie just sat back in such pain as she waited for her husband to make the next move. She knew that whatever he did next would be the right thing for their family, so she trusted his judgement. Feeling another surge of pain ripple through her lower abdomen, Katie knew that the Wood family would welcome a hopefully healthy baby boy into the world within a matter of minutes. Taking in a deep breath as the full extent of the pain hit her, Katie unleashed a painful scream like nothing she had ever done before. Tears streaming down in cheeks out of the sheer pain she was experiencing, Katie just prayed that her son was going to be healthy for being born so much earlier than he was expected.
